Safeheart (Pimobendan) is indicated for managing the signs of mild, moderate, or severe congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs, including those with atrioventricular valvular insufficiency (AVVI) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), classified under modified NYHA Classes IIa, IIIb, or IVc.

Safeheart is designed for use alongside other therapies for congestive heart failure, such as furosemide, when appropriate, based on the individual needs of the dog.

Dosage & Administration:

  • Recommended Dose: Administer orally at a total daily dose of 0.23 mg/lb (0.5 mg/kg) body weight.
  • The dose should be divided into two portions, approximately 12 hours apart (morning and evening), and can be adjusted using whole or half tablets as needed.
  • Tablets are scored, and the dosage should be given in increments of half-tablets for accurate dosing.
